Score choice and superscoring effects would be interesting to parse out. The latter certainly worked against SAT takers this year. ED/EA applicants were probably fairly evenly split between old SAT and new SAT testing, yet their scores are in separate buckets for superscoring. ACT early testers and ACT late testers had the opportunity to superscore all of their dates. The impact of Score Choice is less clear, but it 8767 s yet another place for sub-optimal decisions. Did students release the 8775 right 8776 scores?

If you apply to schools where your SAT/ACT score is above their average admitted student score , that will raise your odds of admission because your score will raise their averages. Remember, colleges are also trying to maximize their score profiles.
For your teacher recommendations, find teachers who can either speak to your personal circumstances or believe in your academic potential. You want to make sure your recommendations are supporting evidence for your application, not contradicting information.
9. Describe a problem you 8767 ve solved or a problem you 8767 d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. I 8767 d put a good amount of weight in how your son did on the PSAT to help make the ACT / new SAT decision. Since it sounds like your son is quite comfortable with STEM, I imagine the science of ACT Science is not going to scare him off. But its demand for relentless reading pace can disadvantage some students. I 8767 d recommend that he take a released ACT and mimic test day conditions (exact timing, no disallowed breaks, etc.). Your son 8767 s situation is very similar to John 8767 s daughter 8767 s (I just posted a reply). Three-quarters of the new SAT, it could be argued, is made up of areas that play to your son 8767 s strengths Math and Writing/Language.
Of course, just how low your GPA is will affect your odds of admission. There is a huge difference between a , which would be considered low at selective colleges but well within range at many state schools, and a , which is considered low at most colleges.
Does the talent come naturally or have you worked hard to develop this skill or talent? Does your talent or skill allow you opportunities in or outside the classroom? If so, what are they and how do they fit into your schedule?
So your GPA is low, but do you do things like read War and Peace in your spare time? Have you learned a coding language on your own and designed your own app?
While thirty-two states and the federal government currently have the death penalty within their legal framework, issues surrounding the administration and fairness of the death penalty are perennially hot topics in . politics and among members of the bench and bar. Several states have engaged in a moratorium on executions while they study possible inequities within the system, while others have developed innocence projects to examine the innocence of death-row inmates through DNA testing.
I have taken the new SAT twice already and got the same score of 6765 both times. The only exception is that instead of doing 685 and 685, the second time I did 695, 675 on each part. My goal is to go to NYU or USC. Should I take the SAT a third time or do I still have a chance to get in with those scores ?
Hello I recently retook the New SAT in June after getting a 6895 on the March SAT and ended up with a 6975. Since the next Date, Oct 6st, would be cutting it too close when receiving my scores back for college admissions, where do I currently stand when competing for more competitive schools such as Ivies or slightly lesser competitive ones like Rice or Emory.
